Age in place planning
We all have an idea of where it is we might like to spend our precious time on this earth. For some that answer is home here in San Juan County; for others, a facility or senior living on the mainland. Either way, there is a lot of planning involved.
We specialize in realistic appraisals of our client’s goals given their circumstances and outside of the box thinking to make those goals a reality.
This might include education on caregiving resources available based on your economics, advanced care planning, alternative living arrangements, safety assessments, and general counseling and discussion about how we keep your quality of life at its highest.
Sliding scale expense:
Initial assessment (in person on island)-
$150 per hour; includes travel
Ongoing time (or phone assessment)-
$100 per hour; includes travel
Research and referral only-
$45 per 30 minutes

Counseling
Life is complicated and things rarely seem to go as planned; we could all use an advocate we feel safe talking to in our corner. Jonathan’s strength in counseling is creating a non-judgmental space to work in to help define or clarify your goals. Sessions lean towards practical measures and system-based thinking. Sessions are meant to be short-duration (usually no more than 5-6 sessions) to work on a specific issue. Issues might include coping with grief and/or loss (whether this be a loved one, an identity, or life circumstance), challenges with a partner, needing a change, etc.
While many of us struggle with life-long emotional challenges, with substances, or family of origin issues, these can take many months or even years to unravel and there are many better suited therapists; I’m happy to make a referral.
Sliding scale expense:
1 hour session (50 minutes plus preparation) in person-
$165; includes travel on island (Lopez only; ferry travel negatable)
1 hour session (50 minutes plus preparation) by phone/zoom-
$125; additional time requested $36 per 15 minute

Life transitions
Not all emotional and/or mental health needs are emergencies…some things we see well in advance. That being said, it is still quite hard for us to begin a new path in which feels uncertain. Taking the first steps can be hard, and taking the last steps can be harder still. If you have a goal you wish to achieve and could use a sounding board, someone to help motivate you, or simply tell you that you are not crazy, I’m happy to help.

Referral
There are many services that should be considered as part of Aging in place, for counseling, or one’s betterment, that Jonathan might be aware of, but cannot meet.
Some examples are:
Legal counsel
Construction safety purposes
Psychedelic Assisted Therapy
Ongoing counseling
Etc.
